Ten Ottawa bachelor party ideas that aren’t four bars.
Here is a Saturday, in order. Half of it is things other people run around Ottawa and Gatineau; the other half is ours. Put the crew on the river in the afternoon, feed them, then bring them to one private floor for the part of the night that needs a door.
-
Whitewater rafting on the Ottawa River
The Ottawa River above Beachburg has some of the biggest commercially rafted rapids in Canada, and the outfitters run them as a day trip with a bus from town. The groom goes in the front of the raft. Nobody argues about this.
-
A boat on the river or the canal
Pontoon charters and rental boats run out of the marinas on both sides of the river, and a slow loop past Parliament from the water is the one photo everybody actually keeps. Book it for the afternoon so the evening is still open.
-
Axe throwing, crew versus crew
Ottawa has several axe-throwing halls with lanes you book by the hour. Split the group in two, keep score, and make the losing team pay for dinner. Works in January, which rafting does not.
-
Go-karts or a racing simulator
Indoor karting and sim-racing bays both take groups, run a few heats, and print the lap times. Somebody in the crew still thinks he is the fastest driver in Ottawa. Settle it.
-
An escape room in the Market
The escape rooms around the ByWard Market take 6 to 10 people and are a short walk from dinner. It is the cheapest way to find out which of your friends panics first.
-
Dinner at a long table
Book a steakhouse or a shared-plates place in the Market or Little Italy for the whole table a week ahead. Eat properly: the rest of the night does not stop for food, and the cinema day pass lets you step out and walk back in.
-
A Sens game, if the dates line up
Home games at the Canadian Tire Centre are the easiest group plan in the city: one block of seats, one bus out, nobody has to make a decision for three hours. It is a 30-minute drive back downtown, so arrange the ride before the puck drops.
-
A limo or party bus between the stops
With ten guys, four rideshares at every stop is where the night falls apart. One vehicle with a driver, booked for the evening, keeps the crew together and gets everyone to 175 Montreal Road at the same time. If you run one and want to be on the Luxe line-up, text us.
-
Take over the Luxe floor
One address with an adult cinema, a VR lounge, private booths, peep shows and a boutique. The groom gets sent into the VR lounge, the brave take a booth, everyone regroups in the cinema. Small crews walk in any day; a takeover is arranged by the night. Build the night in two minutes.
-
Finish at the massage clubs
Five private Luxe clubs across Ottawa, with duo sessions at the premium locations. The Downtown East club shares the address with the venue, so the last stop of the night does not need a cab. Today’s schedule is on luxeottawaxxx.com.
Everything from the river to the game is run by other people and prices change by season, so book those directly. The Luxe half is arranged by text: send the date, the headcount and the line-up to 613·917·3133 and a real person replies the same day.
We’re building the Ottawa line-up.
